Recording Pressure Readings While Simulating a Temperature?
we still call it a calibration...

A TRUE CALIBRATION LAB IN A NUTSHELL
With accuracies up to 0.008%, with more than 50 input and output ranges, smaller than a laptop computer, the CLB breaks all records. With its rugged ABS housing and carrying case the CLB may be used outdoors in tough industrial environments like refineries and petrochemical plants. A strong shoulder strap is supplied as standard for portable use.

TEMPERATURE TRANSMITTER
SIMULATION

Simulation of temperature transmitters allow the user to check and calibrate 4-20mA system inputs. User can set and change temperature readings and output the related milliamps. This function is available for all specified sensors.

ROTATABLE CONTROL
PANEL UNIT

A real portable instrument to calibrate and check field transmitters, control valves and control room instrumentation. Rotation of the control panel allows adjustment for an optimal viewing angle. User terminals are accessible from both sides to suit portable as well as table top use.

CALIBRATION COMPUTER INTERFACE SUPPLIED AS STANDARD
A RS232 connector and a solid state disk station are built-in as standard for transfer of calibration routines and results. With the optional available software the CLB can be used for test bench applications as well. The software is suitable to store recorded calibration results in your personal computer to comply to ISO 9002 standards.

STEP MODE
Preset output levels are called by pressing the up or down key or automatically by a timer. Preset output levels can be freely programmed (max. 10) within one of the output ranges or they can be fixed at 10% or 20% span divisions.

SCALED READINGS
Scaled readings are handy when calibrating an indicator. Both calibrator and indicator read in the same units. All non temperature ranges are fully programmable to read in 5 digits on both measurement and output ranges. In addition, milliamp readings can be flow related to simulate or read dP-transmitters across an orifice plate.

TRANSMITTER SIMULATION AND CALIBRATION
Model CLB can be connected to system inputs to simulate 4-20mA transmitters. Adequate power is available to drive 20mA into a load of 900 Ohms in the source mode.
An integral 24 VDC power supply has been provided at the input terminals to power and read 2-wire transmitters simultaneously. For fast loop checks, preset steps can be called to output 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20mA.

COLD JUNCTION µVOLTS ALWAYS CORRECTLY COMPENSATED
Whether you walk from outdoors into the control room or vice versa, the thermocouple cold junction compensation works correctly and without delay. No more waiting to allow the instrument to a new ambient temperature. The cold junction temperature is measured right on the spot with four highly accurate Pt100 elements.

TRUE 4-WIRE RTD AND OHMS MEASUREMENT AND SIMULATION
Unique on portable equipment, model CLB has been designed to measure RTDs or any other resistor connected in a 4-wire mode. The CLB screen indicates automatically whether you have made a 2, 3, or 4 wire connection. Simulation can be performed with resolutions as low as 0.01 Ohms.

READS INPUT AND OUTPUT SIGNALS SIMULTANEOUSLY
A monochrome alpha LCD display shows you readings for both input and output signals. Primary readings are presented in large digits and can be illuminated for even more readability by the LCD back light system. The back light system has been provided with a time to switch-off the light automatically when operating on batteries.

MEASURES FREQUENCY COUNTS AND TRANSMITTER PULSES
Symmetrical zero based square pulses, with an adjustable amplitude, are transmitted with frequencies up to 10 kiloHertz. A preset number of pulses may be transmitted to test or calibrate totalizers and counters. Model CLB also features frequency measurement and pulse counting. Output readings may be expressed in Hertz, pulses/hour or pulses/minute.

OPERATING ON BATTERIES OR LINE VOLTAGE
The CLB is supplied as standard with alkaline batteries by rechargeable cells when using the appropriate charger/adapter. Same can be used to power the CLB from the 115 to 230 VAC line to facilitate continuous workshop operation.

READS AND OUTPUTS VOLTS AND MILLIVOLTS
Ranges for low millivolt applications with resolutions down to 1 microvolt are available for simulation or measurement on analytical sensors or thermocouples. Volt ranges may be used for measurements on transmitter supply systems or for any other general application.

OUTPUT RAMP MODE
Output signals are increased or decreased automatically proportional to time. Travel limits, travel time and dwelling time can be set in an easy manner. Useful for dynamic testing of control loops and to stroke control valves.

PROGRAMMABLE SIGNAL CONVERTER
With this unique feature any input signals (including signals from the optional temperature probe) can be converted into any on the CLB available output signals while maintaining full galvanic isolation. Zero and span settings for both input and output are fully programmable.

SWITCH POSITION CHANGE DETECTION
To calibrate temperature or pressure switches a switch input has been provided. Every change in switch position will "freeze" the input reading to record the actual control setting for both normally open and normally closed contacts.

TRANSMITTER CALIBRATION
2-wire transmitters are connected in a closed loop with the calibrator. They will be powered and read while receiving a signal. For fast and easy comparison the mA reading is converted into engineering units. Temperature transmitters may be linear or non-linear types.

KEYSTROKING
Keystroking is a solution to eliminate time consuming keypad operations for functions you frequently use. It can store 10 different sequences of keypad operations. Recalling a sequence will put you right back into the function as stored. You can recall a sequence from any operational situation.

LINE VOLTAGE ADAPTOR/CHARGER (Optional)
This adapter/charger has been designed for two functions. It can either power the CLB from line voltage or it can recharge NiCd batteries. As charger and adapter circuits are separate, the user may recharge and operate the unit simultaneously. Adapter/Chargers are wired internally to suit 115 volts or 230 Volts 50/60 Hz line voltage. To order specify p/n CLBPS, 115 or 230 V.

RECORDING
CALIBRATIONS IN FIELD OR WORKSHOP WITH OMEGASW-I

Supporting software for Windows has been developed to transfer a selection of calibration routines from your PC to a solid state disk (SSD). With the disk inserted in the CLB-calibrator you can run field calibrations simply by selecting a tag number. Calibrator readings are recorded directly in Data Base Formatted (DBF) files. For workshop applications a direct high speed communications without the SSD-media is available. The OMEGASW-I option is recommended to comply to ISO 9000 quality programs. Read OMEGASW-I data sheet for detailed information.

A DIGITAL COMMUNICATOR ON BOARD (Optional)
The CLB Calibrator can be equipped with an additional card (modem) for digital communication with "smart" instrumentation.

Instrumentation can be calibrated in a fully digital way from the calibrator or from your personal computer when using the RS232 cable. Two wire transmitters may be powered from the CLB while reading the analog 4-20mA output signal.

Cards are easy to mount to existing CLB calibrators. Ask for more data and mounting instructions.

MODULE FOR PRESSURE CALIBRATIONS (Optional)
Modules to calibrate pressure instruments are available with one or two sensors ranging from 0 up to 120 bars (1750 psig). Modules with two sensors may be selected to read differential pressure. Typical accuracies are 0.05% of reading. Micro-processor techniques have been used to compensate for linearity errors and ambient temperature effects. To suit both portable and table use, the pressure module can be plugged in either on the front or on the back of the CLB. Read Pressure Module data sheet for detailed information.
